1.       On level surface, lift car and place jack stands on frame two feet back from front wheel wells.

2.       Remove front wheels, shocks and anti-sway bar end-links.  Loosen bolts on lower control arm shafts.

3.       Using correct tools (ball joint removal tool and coil spring compressor) disconnect lower ball joints and remove coil springs.  WARNING (Coil springs are under great tension and could cause injury if removed without proper equipment).

4.       Place aluminum discs into lower control arm coil spring pockets.  Align discs by inserting 1/4”–20x1” bolts in drain hole between ball joint and shock hole.  Install and tighten (2) 5/16”–18 Allen head bolts upward through control arm into aluminum discs.  Check for proper clearance through spring bolt hole at this time.  Because factory control arms are stamped, some may vary slightly.  It may be necessary to use a file or grinder to remove metal to match radius of hole in disc.

5.       First, install top shock mount; then, attach lower ball joint to spindle.  Now, attach lower shock mounts to aluminum discs.  Attach spring mounting plates over existing control arm mounting shafts using the (1) new 9/16” bolt and (2) new 7/16” bolts.  At this time, torque all bolts.  Torque ball joints to 60-90 ft/lbs., 9/16” bolts to 95 ft/lbs. and 7/16” bolts to 70 ft/lbs.

6.       Install spring mounting blocks to cross shaft brackets using 1/2” shoulder bolts.  Make sure rubber pads are facing down and grease fittings face out for easy service.  To install spring: first, attach spring ends with 9/16” bolts and nylock nuts, leaving a minimum of 3/4” thread showing on bolt ends.  Then, bolt the spring to the mounting blocks already attached to the cross shafts.

7.       Grease all fittings; reinstall sway bar and tires.  Roll the car back and forth about 20-feet to allow suspension to settle.  Ride height desired can be adjusted by simply turning 9/16” spring end bolts.  Spring rate is adjusted by moving the 1/2” shoulder bolts in or out in the four adjustment points on the spring mounting brackets.
