Thank you for purchasing a fiberglass replacement product from Vette Brakes & Products, Inc.  Your new fiberglass monospring is the ultimate replacement for aging multi-leaf steel springs.  They are designed to ride better, react faster and last longer than conventional multi-leaf springs.  With proper installation, your new spring will provide you with many years of improved ride quality and handling.  Please read all instructions carefully.

Removal of Factory Steel Springs

1.      Lift car and place on jack stands as per shop manual.

2.      Remove cotter pins from spring end bolts.

3.      Clamp a heavy pair of vice-grips to the steel spring to prevent jack from sliding up spring arch during removal.

4.      Slowly raise one side of spring with jack to remove tension from spring end bolt.

5.      Remove spring end bolt and slowly lower jack.

6.      Repeat Steps 1-5 for other side.

7.      Remove center-mounting plate from differential.

8.      Remove steel spring from car, removing one wheel if necessary.

9.      Carefully inspect differential for cracks or broken bosses.

Installation of Fiberglass Replacement Springs

1.      Measure and center fiberglass spring under differential.

2.      Attach center mount around spring and bolt to differential.

3.      Evenly torque factory bolts and steel plate to Reduced specs

4.      63-77 / 40-45 lbs ft.      78-79 / 40/45 lbs ft.     80-82 /  45-50  lbs ft.(flat side of plate to spring).

5.      Carefully place jack on steel tip of spring end.  NEVER PLACE JACK DIRECTLY ON FIBERGLASS SPRING.  Lift spring just enough to attach spring end bolt assembly to trailing arm. Slowly lower jack and repeat for other side of car.

6.      Very slowly lower car.  If ride height is adjusted too low, tires may hit fenders.

7.      If using adjustable spring end bolts, tighten to raise car or loosen to lower car.  If using stock spring end bolts, be sure to reinstall locking cotter pins.

8.      With car on ground, re-torque center mount bolts.

Important Notes

1.                  NEVER expose fiberglass springs to heat in excess of 235 degrees.  Minimum exhaust clearance is 3”.  Heat shields are recommended in ALL applications.  DAMAGE FROM EXCESSIVE HEAT WILL VOID WARRANTY.

2.                  NEVER expose fiberglass springs to hammer blows, tow straps, etc….springs are not designed as a tow or lift point.

3.                  Periodically check center pad mounting bolts torque values.

4.                   For best results, we recommend using high quality gas shocks with equal compression and rebound dampening.
