READ THOROUGHLY BEFORE BEGINNING!

NOTE: 1984 and later corvettes incorporate Aluminum suspension parts that require special care to ensure they are not damaged. Using a hydraulic press to remove rubber bushings can be disastrous to the suspension parts. Also always use a ball joint or tie rod end puller and not a pickle fork.

1.       Jack up car and support on suitable jack stands, remove wheels, and remove control arm or linkage to have bushings replaced.

2.       Using a small drill and a small bit i.e. 3/16”, Drill several holes in rubber part of old bushing next to the inner sleeve to release tension on rubber bushing.                                CAUTION: Be careful not to drill into aluminum part. This should allow the removal of the inner sleeve with a pair of vice grips. Once the inner sleeve is removed, the rubber will pull out. Using a press will expand the rubber and over size the hole in the control arm or link.

3.      With the old rubber removed, clean and degrease the part as nessasry.

4.      Install the poly into the control arm or link dry.

5.      Lubricate the inside of the poly and the outside of the inner sleeve with waterproof wheel bearing or marine grease.

6.      Assemble the inner sleeve into the poly bushing using a soft hammer.

7.      Inner sleeve should extend out of poly bushing about 0.010”.

8.      Install the control arm or link using the original shims and bolts.
